Designed for Smiles is an organisation that aims to put smiles on the faces of the most deserving of children by redesigning their bedrooms. Designed for Smiles was created by Amy Sharma who pursued a career in marketing, PR and communications before jet setting to London to study interior design. Upon returning Amy set up her organisation in the vision of bringing joy to young children’s lives through redesigns and room makeovers. Designed for Smiles was born and Amy now works with businesses, the community and tradespeople to help her design visions become a reality and support children that are or have gone through unfortunate circumstances.
When Mocka was asked if they would like to support Designed for Smiles, naturally they jumped at the chance! Kiera was diagnosed with a brain stem tumour in 2009. The brain tumour was removed which resulted in Keira spending the next 474 days recovering in Sydney’s Children’s Hospital. Although cognitively intact, Kiera’s mobility is restricted and now relies on a powered wheelchair.
Amy mentioned to Mocka that Kiera is a girly girl at heart who loves shopping, shoes, bling and of course pink! Designed for Smiles selected Mocka’s Six Cubes Storage Unit in white, a pair of Two Cube Storage Units in white and a pair of Jimmy Stands in white/natural for Kiera’s room.
Designed for Smiles designed a room that any young teenage girl would adore. Pink and gold polka dotted wall decals, lots of storage and hanging space for clothes and shoes, beautiful lampshades and pink heart décor. The room is now bright, fresh and youthful!
Kiera loves her new room and Mocka are sure she will enjoy relaxing in it. Mocka were thrilled to have been able to donate to this wonderful organisation and brighten a room for a deserving young girl.
