There is nothing like a personalised Hamper at Christmas. A basket jammed-packed with goodies tailored specifically for someone special shows a level of thought and care when it comes to gift giving. Not only are they super fun to create, but the possibilities are endless.
Our Mocka Wire Baskets make the perfect base for a set of three hampers and this week for 4 days ONLY (Thursday-Sunday) they are at the super special price of $29.95 – that’s under $10.00 per basket!! Keep reading to find out how you can use these gorgeous wire baskets to make a personalise hamper this Christmas.
Step 1: Choose a Theme
The first step to creating a hamper is to pick a theme. Some hampers will be for a special occasion that already has a clear cut theme (e.g. baby shower). However, Christmas hampers can be wonderfully varied. So start by thinking about who the hamper is for and what are their interests, hobbies and likes. Are they a green thumb or a master chef in the kitchen? Do they love a good vino or anything to do with Buffy the Vampire Slayer? You can create Pamper and Spa Hampers, Kids Toy Hampers, Movie Hampers, Pet Hampers (Hey! Some of us like to give their pets Xmas presents…what of it?), Baking Hampers, Food and Wine Hampers, Craft Hampers, Book Hampers, Home Decorating Hampers, Sports Hampers, Beach Hampers, Travel Hampers…..we could be here all day. You get the picture. Pick a theme that will resonate with the recipient and just watch them light up as they go through all the goodies.
Step 2: Set a Budget
One of the wonderful things about hampers is they can be as frugal or extravagant as you want and they will still be amazing! Hampers can be any size and our Mocka Wire Baskets come in a set of three (Small, Medium and Large), so you have choice of the size of hampers you want to create. Our Wire Baskets are also useful storage items that become part of the hamper, so you aren’t wasting money on a container that isn’t going to be used. Splash out with high-end beauty products or add items you have made yourself such as homemade cookies or chutney to keep the costs lower. Try a combo with a few key expensive items supplemented with smaller, less expensive products. Set your budget and stick to it – you (and the recipient) won’t be disappointed!
Step 3: Contents and Packing
Now to the fun stuff. Working from your chosen theme, get creative with the items you place in your hamper – they don’t all have to just be jam and shortbread! For example, if you have decided on a gardening theme, add a potted plant, some seeds, a sunhat and a gardening magazine/book. Creating a more traditional food and wine hamper? Then perhaps consider adding a set of wine glasses to compliment or a documentary on Italian wines.
Once you have all the goodies, pack from the bottom up and make sure to place any heavier items at the bottom. It is always good to keep a few well-chosen pieces aside to be the attractive top layer (and the first thing your recipient sees!). Use some tissue paper, cellophane, shredded newspaper or wrapping paper, (whatever you wish really) as filler to lift the items and make them more presentable. Beautify by adding decorative items such as silk or fresh flowers, sparkle lights, tinsel or baubles. Get as creative as possible and play around - it’s just as much fun to make as it is to gift.
